🗞️ 32 | Some brief updates

Edition #32

March 17, 2024

Hello! With work & illness & life happening last week the usual Saturday edition just didn’t get finished. But, I wanted to update everyone on a few things. So this will be a teaser for what’s coming up and highlighting some peer-group announcements. (If you’re only here for the deep dive content, I apologize… but next week we’ll get right back to it.)

Appreciate everyone’s understanding!

Here’s what we have this week:

  • đź”– Future Series

  • đź“… Upcoming Events

  • 🤝 ESP Shout-out

THE BIG IDEA

Over the next few weeks, we are going to be exploring what it looks like to run a professionally managed farm or ranch business. While not always popular to talk about a farm as a business, in today’s landscape with extraordinary asset valuations, razor thin margins, and ever changing family dynamics, production agriculture is more than just a lifestyle.

So, our upcoming series will be breaking down management areas that operations (and all ag related businesses) of all sizes can focus on. We will be diving into tried and true principles you can apply to your operation to have greater financial, growth, and transition success.

These ideas and tools will come from a variety of sources, including our very own Braintrust Ag members.

I hope you tune in to our upcoming series and apply some of the principles and tools we discuss.

MARCH MAYHEM

It started as a throw-away comment from a member a couple days ago...

"Braintrust Ag should host a March Madness pool."

My response, "ha, that would be fun. I've filled out brackets every year but never hosted a pool."

After zero 'careful consideration' and on a whim - let's give it a try!

→ Open to anyone

→ Free to participate

→ Members get a bonus bracket

→ Some little prizes to keep things interesting

There's no rule against having a little fun in the ag world for the next few weeks!

EVENT THIS WEEK!

ENDORSED SERVICE PROVIDERS (ESP)

I wanted to show a little love to the ag professionals who consistently support Braintrust Ag members through their services. The whole concept behind ESPs is to match farmers and ranchers in need with pros who understand the nuances of agriculture.
